Marketing vs Reality: The Truth About Primal Queen

You get what you pay for, but there are ways to get benefits for less no matter what brand you choose (and I’m not just talking about discount codes.)

The results of this comparison will shock you, just like they shocked me. I tried multiple beef organ supplements and found out some dirty secrets as well as some hacks to get the most for your money, no matter which brand you choose! I never expected to get so passionate about the beef organ industry, but there is so much to consider about price, blends, and strategies that I hope you’ll stick around until the end of this

TLDR;; In some ways you get what you pay for, but there are ways to get benefits for less no matter what brand you choose, and I’m not just talking about discount codes.

What you get from Primal Queen

I was seeing ads for Primal Queen EVERYWHERE and they all had countless comments from adoring “queens” talking about the life changing benefits they experienced firsthand after indulging in the vibrant pink and orange fandom.

The benefits were tempting, of course. Primal Queen leans heavily into vibrant feminine energy and promises better moods, more energy, a higher sex drive, lighter and more consistent periods, and overall hormone health. Win win win win win.

I’m a sucker for branding and I know that about myself, so I was completely unsurprised as I watched myself click that order button that toted a free month’s supply plus “free gifts”. The standard entry order for Primal Queen is an auto-ship three month supply (one month being free), a bamboo lid glass jar, an on-the-go pill case, and a free mystery gift for $78.Other discount codes will stack with this deal, and one can easily find a 25% off code from the countless influencers across social media. This brought my cost down to $58.50 for a 3 month supply.

$19.50 a month is not bad. That’s a small investment for what is advertised to have potentially life changing benefits. But let’s take a look at what we’re paying for:

That was shocking to me. But for me, it didn’t end there. It is crucial to note that all quantities and dosages aside, Primal Queen uses a proprietary blend. That means that they do not disclose what their blend is. They share their list of ingredients (bovine uterus, fallopian tubes, ovary, liver, kidney, and heart) but they at no point disclose how much of any given organ is in their recipe. This could mean their blend is 95% fallopian tubes and the other organs make up the other 5%, or it could be 50% kidney and 49% ovary and 1% of everything else, it could quite literally be any conceivable ratio of their ingredients. It reminds me of the packages of mixed nuts that are sure to include “less than 49% peanuts!” except Primal Queen doesn’t even provide a generalization like that. It is totally fair to assume that they bulk their powder with the cheapest ingredients to keep costs down and use as small of quantities as possible to meet their required ingredients.

I also find myself compelled to address the “free mystery gift”. One would expect that maybe they would include a sample of one of their other products or some other low-ticket but useful item. No, my friends. It is, always has been, as probably always will be one of those cheap, "livestrong" style silicone bracelets that no one will EVER wear and is by every metric garbage. Quite literally the only purpose of this item is to be thrown away. It is not a mystery gift, it is a piece of garbage they include at essentially no cost to themselves to add one more little “check” to their upsell auto-ship offer.

Speaking of garbage, each bottle includes an unprecedented addition - an artificial fragrance heart that makes your pills smell like peppermint. It does smell good, but WHY?!

I asked for advice online, I read forums, I looked at labels and websites until I was so overwhelmed by the scope of beef organs supplements on the market that I was ready to give up and just make them myself. And, I do think that can be a great option. You’d need a freeze dryer or a dehydrator and a capsule maker, but it is certainly doable. Or, I have seen people who just cut and freeze bite-sized pieces of liver and heart and take a piece daily like a pill. However, I really wanted a blend that included the reproductive organs to try and chase all of those hormonal benefits of a female-focused blend.

An Alternative Brand

I decided on Heart & Soil, a sister company to another of my favorite brands, Lineage Provisions. “Her Package” is their female focused blend and starts out at $74. After a 25% autoship discount the cost comes down to $55.50, and influencer discounts and other sales will stack. For example, they just ran a 17.76% off sale bringing the monthly cost to $45.51. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that that is still double the cost of Primal Queen. But! Stick with me. Let’s look at what you’re paying for.

Her Package from Heart & Soil’s one month supply includes 180 capsules, meaning you take six capsules a day. (I take 3 in the morning and 3 at night.) The daily dosage of 6 capsules includes 3,000mg of organs. 3,000! Each capsule is 500mg. I cannot overstate how significant this is. Let’s break this down against Primal Queen.

PQ: 60 capsules. 337.5mg per capsule.

H&S: 180 capsules. 500mg per capsule.

Using the sales I quoted above, PQ was $19.50 a month, and H&S was $45.51. Per capsule, that comes out to:

PQ: $0.33 per 337.5mg capsule, or $0.00098 per mg.

H&S: $0.25 per 500mg capsule, or $0.0005 per mg.

Additionally, Heart & Soil discloses a crystal clear breakdown of what their blend is, unlike the proprietary blend from Primal Queen. Heart & Soil includes 750mg liver, 750mg kidney, and 1500mg reproductive organs (fallopian tubes, ovaries, and uterus).

I think it’s important to look at this all with regular prices, too, since sales fluctuate. There are sales pretty regularly, but I don’t want to base this entire article on temporary pricing.

(Regular Prices)

PQ: $58/month, $0.97 per 337.5mg capsule, or $0.003 per mg.

H&S: $74/month, $0.41 per 500mg capsule, $0.008 or per mg.

The “hack”

Per capsule, Heart and Soil is significantly cheaper. I take the full 6 capsules a day because I strongly believe that is how I’m going to continue the benefits I’m experiencing. I believe that is the quantity of organs that actually makes a nutritional difference, and I think it is worth every penny. However, if you’re fine with the lower dosage that you would get from Primal Queen, or if you’ve been taking Primal Queen and are noticing benefits at that dosage, I would just purchase a higher quality brand and take fewer! If you were to invest in Heart & Soil but take it at a dosage more comparable to Primal Queen. If you transitioned to Heart & Soil and you took only one capsule a day you’d get slightly less than Primal Queen at 500mg/day compared to Primal Queens 675mg, or take only 2 a day and you’d be getting a slightly higher dose than Primal Queen (1000mg compared to 675mg.)

The important price breakdown here is that if you took 2 Heart & Soil capsules a day, that would result in one bottle lasting 3 months, which would come out to a monthly cost of $15.17!

Again, I advocate for taking the full dose daily because I believe that is where you’re going to experience true benefits, but if taking these lower doses is what makes this higher quality product accessible to you, then it’s worth it!

Thoughts?

There are lots of options out there and this is the path that I chose after my own research, but I hope that you’ll do your own research, too! I hope this blog is only a small part of your greater research and that you make the well-informed decision that is right for your personal situation. Thanks so much for taking the time to read, I hope this was helpful!
